McDonald Water Storage has enabled a private developer to transform the hot water storage system of their luxury holiday rental property in St Andrews by doubling the capacity and delivering mains pressure hot water with a bespoke POWERflow Unvented Cylinder.
The developer was completely refurbishing the spacious 4 bedroom property to include en-suite bathrooms for all bedrooms, as well as adding an additional main bathroom to ensure its customers had everything they could wish for with such a stunning property.
Recognising the existing vented cylinder could not cope with the new demands being placed on it, McDonald Water Storage was asked to design, manufacture and supply the optimum hot water solution.
Its proposal was a 450 Litre 3 Bar POWERflow Indirect Unvented Cylinder to be located at the centre of the building and was designed to work with the existing pipework to allow a very easy installation.
The cylinder also featured 2 x 3kW back up immersions to ensure the property never ran out of hot water with 28mm connections to maximise flow rates as well as a de-stratification pump to alleviate any legionella issues from stagnant cold water which can happen in the holiday rental market.
McDonald Water Storage’s Managing Director, Jamie Stewart, explained, “This is a stunning property which is just a 2 minute walk away from the world famous Old Course in St Andrews and we’re delighted it has been restored to its former glory.”
He continued, “Like many refurbishment projects in older properties, the pipework was a bit all over the place. However, we were able to design a bespoke solution with the connection layout optimised to tie into the existing pipework, dramatically reducing the installation process and avoiding the need for further intrusive works which could impact the original features.”
