Vented Copper Hot Water Cylinders for Scottish Fuel Poverty Project

McDonald Engineers UK has played a key role in helping reduce fuel poverty throughout Scotland. Following on from the scheme success across England, the Scottish government has set millions aside to allow households hit by fuel poverty to be upgraded with thicker roof insulation, new radiators, boilers and in some cases copper cylinders.

McDonald Engineers UK were chosen as the preferred supplier for the copper vented cylinders due to their ability to meet the strict delivery deadlines. As Scotland’s only independent manufacturer of copper hot water cylinders, McDonald Engineers UK were able to respond quicker and provide a solution with a lower carbon footprint due to the reduction in travel, fuel costs etc.

Bill Stewart said ‘Knowing our tanks are being used for such a fantastic scheme is great news. We have always endeavoured to make our tanks to the highest quality and as efficient as possible. Manufacturing the British Standard and Kitemark means that the coils are all highly efficient therefore reducing the running costs of the boiler. This all goes towards helping these households with their bills?

‘Our recent investment in foam lagging technology has also meant that the tanks are all very well insulated with a minimum of 35mm thick, increasing to 50mm in some cases.’
